The humid sub-tropical climate of the Southeast creates parks characterised by lush vegetation hosting numerous protected species, with an extensive mixture of both land and sea creatures. Florida has three parks focused around the wetlands and reefs of the Everglades and Florida Keys, with Dry Tortugas being one of the most isolated but coolest parks of the contiguous United States, accessible only by boat or seaplane!

The region also contains the most visited park, Great Smoky Mountains, which stretches along the Tennessee-North Carolina border and regularly welcomes over 10 million visitors each year. Containing the Appalachian mountains, it has the highest peaks east of the Mississippi, and they create stunning layers across the horizon especially during sunrise and sunset. This beautiful park also hosts picturesque waterfalls, forested trails and the winding Blue Ridge Parkway, one of America's most spectacular roads and an amazing way to see this beautiful area of the country!
